Job Description
Job Title: Security System and Lock Shop Technician
Overview:
The Security System and Lock Shop Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing security systems, access control systems, and mechanical locking mechanisms. This role requires technical expertise in electronic security systems as well as traditional locksmithing skills. The technician will ensure the safety and security of facilities by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

The Security System and Lock Shop Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing security systems, access control systems, and mechanical locking mechanisms. This role requires technical expertise in electronic security systems as well as traditional locksmithing skills. The technician will ensure the safety and security of facilities by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Maintenance of Security Systems:
- Install and configure electronic security systems, including access control, surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and intercoms.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic security systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Upgrade and expand existing security systems as required to meet security needs.

Locksmith Services:
- Install, repair, and maintain mechanical locks, including deadbolts, padlocks, and master key systems.
- Cut keys, rekey locks, and provide emergency lockout services.
- Maintain key inventory and security records to ensure proper key control.

Access Control Management:
- Manage and maintain access control systems, including programming key cards and fobs.
- Ensure the integrity of security access by managing user permissions and access levels.
- Coordinate with security personnel to respond to access control issues and security breaches.

Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all installations and repairs comply with safety and security regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs and service reports.
- Conduct security assessments and recommend improvements to enhance facility security.

Customer Service and Support:
- Provide technical support and training to users on security systems and lock mechanisms.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized installations and repairs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in locksmithing or electronic security systems preferred.
- 0-3 years of experience as a security system technician or locksmith.
- Security Clearance
- Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting electronic security systems (e.g., CCTV, alarm systems, access control).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical locks, keying systems, and locksmithing tools.
- Familiarity with security and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple job sites.
